Jedi knights are modelled after Taoists

  • The Force = Chi ( aka Qi  ). In Taoism , Qi = energy
  • Yoda passesd away at age 900. Taoists aim for health, longevity and  physical immortality.
Lao Zi, Lu Dong Bin are Taoists many Chinese accept to be 2500, 1200 years old  respectively and still  ( physically ) alive
  • Jedis have good sword skills. So did  ancient Taoists ( they developed Tai Chi, Baguazhang, XingYi  Internal Martial Arts  etc )
  • Jedis have telekinetic powers similar to Taoist's  Empty Force ( Lin Kong Jing )
  • The dark side of The Force = Yin
  • The bright side of The Force = Yang
  • Taoist tend to not marry. The only Jedi that married was Anakin ( Darth Vader)
  • Jedis are psychically sensitive and sense the presence of others like themselves. So are Taoists.
Many  articles attempt to connect Star Wars ideology to Zen Buddhism, Samurai Budo, Zorastrian etc etc
Yet ALL fall short of meeting critical items  on closer inspection. For example:

1. Samurai do not seek longevity . None have lived to be centenarians
2. Zen Buddhist also do not seek longevity . They want to die to reincarnate  in a better life form
3. Samurai rely on brute force. Jedi and Taoist  don't  ( Recall Obi Wan's constant nagging  " Use the Force  Luke " )  Both Jedi and Taoist rely on internal strength aka Qi / Chi  / THE FORCE
